German, circa 1860, with octagonal 19in. barrel marked 'STAHL' and swelling at the tap, dove-tailed blade fore-sight, standing rear-sight adjustable for elevation via a screw, large barrel-shaped tap-housing with long opening lever swinging through ninety degrees, rear-mounted push-forwards striker similar to Dreyse, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, caved angular raised cheek-piece, smooth butt-end without heel-plate, schnabel fore-end tip, swivel and button sling fixings
